Job Posting: Mold Maintenance Manager (Aluminum Die Casting)
This position plays a critical role in the manufacturing industry, particularly in sectors utilizing molds, such as automotive, electronics, plastic, or metal component production.
1. Roles & Responsibilities
1.1 Planning and Management
- Plan and maintain stock of mold spare parts and repair tools to ensure readiness.
- Develop Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) plans tailored to aluminum mold usage.
- Prepare and control budgets for mold maintenance and spare parts.
- Manage the mold maintenance team to work efficiently.
- Optimize tool and spare part usage to minimize production downtime.
1.2 Operations
- Inspect mold conditions and analyze causes of defects or damage.
- Supervise mold repairs or improvements to meet specified timelines.
- Ensure mold maintenance quality meets standards.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and QC teams to resolve mold-related issues.
1.3 Development and Improvement
- Analyze historical maintenance data to enhance mold care efficiency.
- Improve processes to reduce downtime and extend mold lifespan (Mold Life Extension).
- Train team on skills such as mold polishing, TIG/MIG welding, and EDM usage.
- Contribute to designing maintenance-friendly molds (e.g., easy core replacement).
- Support the design or improvement of molds for long-term maintenance.
1.4 Mold Quality Control
- Inspect and ensure mold readiness, including cavity surfaces, cooling lines, and runner/gate systems.
- Maintain mold history records (Mold History Card).
- Analyze mold issues, such as cracking, cavity/core wear, tempering errors, or abnormal aluminum casting.
1.5 Team Management, Safety, and Environment
- Lead mold maintenance technicians across shifts to achieve high performance.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Support waste reduction, energy-saving, and eco-friendly initiatives.
1.6 Support and Coordination
- Coordinate with production, engineering, and QC teams to address mold issues.
- Support mold trials and new product launches.
- Prepare reports on mold performance, such as downtime and failure rates.
2. Qualifications
2.1 Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mold Technology, Manufacturing, or related fields.
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in mold or mold maintenance.
- Experience leading maintenance or technician teams at a supervisory or managerial level.
- Experience in factories using Cold Chamber and Hot Chamber Die Casting Machines is a strong advantage.
2.2 Technical Skills
- Expertise in aluminum mold systems, including cooling, venting, and spray systems.
- Proficient in reading drawings, blueprints, and using CAD/CAM.
- Knowledge of Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Root Cause Analysis.
- Skilled in using mold-related tools and machines (e.g., Surface Grinder, EDM, CNC).
- Understanding of material issues, such as aluminum soldering, erosion, and thermal fatigue.
2.3 Management Skills
- Strong leadership and team development abilities.
- Effective planning and decision-making skills.
- Time management and task prioritization capabilities.
- Ability to manage budgets and control maintenance costs.
